ワーナー・ブラザース・ホームエンターテイメントは、PS4/PS3/Xbox One用ソフト「シャドウ・オブ・モルドール」が、“The Game Awards 2014”にノミネートされたことを明かした。
“The Game Awards 2014”は、アメリカ・ラスベガスで2014年12月5日（現地時間、日本時間では6日午前11時から）に催される全世界のゲームメディアが選ぶゲームアワード。本アワードの記念すべき第1回目のノミネート5タイトルのうちの1タイトルに、今回「シャドウ・オブ・モルドール」が選出されることとなった。
本作は発表以来、期待作として話題を集め、「E3 2014」でも「Best of Show」他3部門にノミネート。そして9月30日に先行して新世代機版が発売された海外では、レビュー集計サイト「Metacritic」にて【Metascore 84】【User Score 8.2】(PS4版、2014年11月末時点)というハイスコアを記録している。
